Glenn Highway headed toward Wrangell St. Elias. Mount Wrangell itself, a massive shield-shaped volcano and namesake of the range, still signals its active presence with steam plumes, while nearby, Mounts Sanford, Drum, and Blackburn lie dormant.

This is looking north from Anchorage at the end of the airport over looking Cook Inlet. You can see Mt. Mckinley (the peak on the right) and it is about 237 road miles away. Mt. Mckinley stands at 20,320 feet high and is growing a few inches every year.

This is looking back toward Palmer on the P. W. Highway. I pulled off the road on top of a hill to take this morning shot.
This was going to be a hotel but never got finished. It is a great idea just in the wrong place. I think they ran out of money or something. Now it sits empty and abandoned. A few years ago the gas station was open. You can find this on the Parks Highway.
